Ace of Wands
Alyoshenka the alien, a divine child, sits on his mother's lap. She gently holds his fragile body close. Outside the window, the new dawn is breaking.
The Ace of Wands symbolizes something fundamentally new — an idea, a new way of seeing, a beginning. It’s a symbol of breakthrough and liberation. The creative divine force that lets you reshape reality.
2 of Swords
One ancient Greek god loved to fuck around. He seduced someone as a snake, entered someone's house as golden rain. And to one woman he came as a swan. She fell asleep, not recognizing the god in the bird, let him rest on her lap, and he took her. Their children he later turned into constellations. All this time, the god was married to his goddess wife, of course.
The Two of Swords asks one main question: what are you turning a blind eye to?
But I'm curious about something else: how many children of that god are walking the planet right now, unaware of their origins? Thinking their father is some fool who got lost on his way to get cigarettes and never came back. Or an astronaut on a mission. When in reality their father is an ancient Greek god, and he's up on Olympus now, deciding the fate of the world.
High Priestess
A huge statue meets travelers at the crossroads. They say that beyond her lies a magical land where everything becomes clear, where you'll find answers to all your questions. But you can only enter with her permission. But no one knows how.
A traveler, tiny before the statue, reads the inscriptions on her body. Dates, unfamiliar names circled in hearts, prayers in unknown languages. The stone body is covered with thousands of such messages. The traveler takes out a knife to add his own, but his hand freezes. What did he even want to learn in that miraculous land?.. The statue, enormous and indifferent, looks through him, and he understands that the answer will always be nothing but silence.
The High Priestess guards secret knowledge and spiritual wisdom, the key to which is premonition and intuition. What you seek is within you, but it slips away from the logical mind.
5 of Cups
On a deserted Earth, a cyborg girl — the only inhabitant of this abandoned planet — slowly deteriorates. Her only companion is an angel who visits sometimes, filled with sorrow because he knows nothing about mechanics and can’t fix her. Sores cover the angel’s skin, blooming across his perfect face. Heavenly creatures are built for distance; tears corrupt them as water rusts metal. The cyborg gently strokes the angel’s face, blind to the wounds beneath. She knows nothing about angels or heaven.
This is the trap of the Five of Cups: sorrow that turns inward, grief that has no outlet, regret that festers. He stands over what has been spilled and broken, unable to see the love that’s still there — right beside him.
Death
Death is gentle and tender. It comes as a beautiful man or a woman with kind eyes. And it brushes its hand softly across your face. Just like in childhood, when you lay at home with a fever, and your mother’s wonderfully cool hand touched your burning, splitting head. You did not see it, only felt the touch — light as an angel’s wing — and suddenly the relief.
Death never kills, it saves. Death brings peace, ends the suffering.
It doesn’t cut life short. It meets you when life nears its end. When the time comes to move on, and nothing can be done to stop it.
Death meets you there, takes your hand, and leads you into a new life.
Hanged Man
I kissed you and asked you to promise you'd be happy. You didn't answer, already falling asleep. Your face was peaceful, the way children look when they dream. My fingers tangled in your hair, and I promised I would always be there — I would guard your sleep so nothing bad would ever happen to you. And if I'm not there, drop seven tears into water, and I will appear. At least in your dreams.
I lied to you. I haven't slept since.
The Hanged Man is a dead end, imprisonment. You get stuck in the prison of your thoughts, between now and once upon a time, between earth and sky, and you must do great work to throw open the doors.
Queen of Cups
A passionate and tender queen who easily becomes too unbridled. You never know what's in her cup: wine or blood? Turn to her for advice in love.
Devil
For instance, one woman ran away with a jaguar — the animal, not the car — which her husband never believed in, thinking she was retelling him some Cortázar story because she loved magical realism. Another woman's husband announced he was leaving the family because she was a stone around his neck and he wanted to follow his passion. Turned out, he had two passions — the department store consultant who had helped him pick out the wedding suit, and cocaine.
The Devil is the dark side of all things. It indicates that a person has started down a path of self-destruction in some way. Something is gaining too much power over them.
